ASEAN-ROK Youth Metaverse Idea Proposal
The ASEAN-ROK Youth Metaverse Idea Competition was organised by the Busan IT Industry Promotion agency, in conjunction with the Cultural Heritage Administration, the ASEAN-ROK Working Committee on Cultural Heritage, and the ASEAN Secretariat. The competition’s objectives was to inspire youths to utilise immersive technologies for the use of cultural heritage. My team (Team LASALLE) was among the 48 teams and 21 individuals from the ASEAN region competing. We placed third overall, tied with team KYAT and Creative Potatoes.

Team leader, researcher and scriptwriter
Leading a team of 4 — Angelina Ang, Lim Yan Bing, Lionel Fong and Myself — I set the direction of the proposal idea and worked closely with the team to delegate the workload where appropriate. As a team, we worked collectively on the necessary academic & market research needed for our proposal. I wrote the script for the presentation, with my teammates delivering the final presentation in Busan.
The final presentation touched on immersive technologies to feature cultural artefacts and intangible cultural heritage to present different cultures in their full context as a method for cultural preservation and improved audience engagement. Additionally, our proposal emphasised the collaboration potential these technologies brought between museum institutions and indigenous communities in Southeast Asia.
